Anandabazar reports that Sourav Ganguly is going to get a big post in ICC
Sports Desk: The ICC has been the highest governing body of headless cricket since July 1. Since Shashank Manohar resigned as ICC President, many have seen Sourav Ganguly as his successor. But to take over as ICC president, Sourav will have to step down from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). But that possibility is not at all. That is why the highest governing body of cricket is planning to keep Sourav as the president of the BCCI and make him a senior member of the ICC.
Citing a reliable source in the ICC, the popular Kolkata daily Anandabazar wrote that Sourav is going to be the Deputy Chairman of the ICC. Anandabazar said ICC board members wanted to add Saurabh to the world cricket governing body. And if added to this post, Sourav will not have to leave the post of BCCI chief.
Citing an influential ICC official, Anandabazar wrote, “A person like Sourav will actually be stronger administratively. Especially in the difficult situation of this Corona epidemic. This post will also become important if Sourav becomes the Deputy Chairman.
Earlier, former stars like Kumar Sangakkara, Graeme Smith and David Gower wanted to see Sourav as the ICC chairman. Former England captain Gawar said, “Who can handle a difficult task like the BCCI president, who can say that he will not be in charge of the ICC in the future?”
Former South African captain and current director of cricket Graeme Smith also said that if a cricketer like Sourav took over as ICC chairman in such a difficult situation, international cricket would move in the right direction. Although he is not the chairman of the ICC, the highest body in cricket is planning to use Saurabh in a new way.
