A list of 8,549 duty-free products in China has been released
Desk Report: The Ministry of Commerce has released a list of 6,549 products that have received duty-free benefits in China. Meanwhile, if such facilities provided by China can be utilized, new doors will be opened for Bangladesh in global trade, as well as the economic base of Bangladesh will be stronger, the concerned people think.
The 1269-page list was published on the Commerce Ministry’s website on Sunday (October 11).
According to the Ministry of Commerce, while the export market was shrinking due to the global epidemic corona virus, Bangladesh got 97 percent duty-free access to 5,161 more products in the Chinese market. On June 18, the Chinese government announced duty-free access to a total of 8,256 new products. This facility has been effective since last July 1. But the Ministry of Commerce could not publish them on the website as they were in Chinese. Although late, the list of those products was finally published in English by the Ministry of Commerce.
According to the Ministry of Commerce and the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), the Ministry of Commerce issued a letter to the FBCCI, BGMEA and BKMEA on June 24 after the Chinese government announced duty-free facilities.
The letter said, “After a long negotiation, on June 16, China granted Bangladesh duty-free access to 98 percent of its products, or 8,256 products.” Which will be effective from July 1, 2020.
